[1:05p] Reimbursement or discount for November passes
Right now, SEPTA will reimburse you for the weekly TransPass you bought for last week, so long as you never had it punched for using it on Regional Rail. As for monthly TransPasses, SEPTA is telling us to continue using the November pass, and then surrender it to the sales clerk for a $20 discount on your December, January, or February pass. You should be able to get your refund or discount from the same sales location where you bought your pass in the first place. Source and more details: philly.com. Pass it on! I only kinda accidentally found this today. |

[11:46a] utahraptor used to be more against t-rex stepping on tiny women, but it keeps happening and the woma
http://www.qwantz.com/index.php?comic=1591 | archive - contact - sexy exciting merchandise - search - about– | | | | ← previous | November 10th, 2009 | next | November 10th, 2009: In yesterday's comic T-Rex and Utahraptor talked about self-charging mp3 players (before everyone died) (quite a bit before everyone died). Utahraptor said "There are physical limits to what a -" before he was interrupted by T-Rex. If he'd been allowed to continue he would have said "There are physical limits to what a device such as that can do, and it wouldn't be enough, as I said earlier - assuming of course that the person lives a sedate lifestyle and barely uses their legs."
I say this because it turns out that people are ALREADY working on T-Rex's invention! In fact, they're such great people that they started working on it even before he invented it, and that's really something. Thank you everyone who sent me links to this Science Daily article and this NPR story. I even got some emails from researchers working on this very problem, which was kind of crazy, because I hadn't expected that! It made me think that if I'd written a comic about how you can converse in English with your dogs now instead, we'd all be waking up today to a world where, come Christmas 2009, a Dog Talker will be on the top of everyone's list!
Anyway that sounds pretty good to me!
UPDATE: Guys it turns out that dog translators exist, I am going to think really hard about what my third invention will be before posting it here; I don't want to waste it.
UPDATE 2: Okay the idea of using breasts as a power source was just a stray thought, I didn't mean for it to come true! I need to get a handle on controlling this new-found power. – Ryan |

[11:10a] Radio Times Cover
http://gallifreynewsbase.blogspot.com/2009/11/radio-times-cover.html With a new episode of Doctor Who just five days away, the programme returns to the cover of Radio Times this week. The magazine takes a look at the special and contemplates whether The Waters of Mars may be the scariest adventure that the intrepid Time Lord's ever had. Russell T Davies explains just why he's ladled on the fear. Over the years Doctor Who has featured on the cover of the magazine over forty times; the first time it was accorded this honour was in February 1964. There is a full gallery of the covers on The Radio Times website. |

[8:21a] Toynbee Tile update
Google Alerts isn't picking up much on Toynbee Tiles these days, but a journalistic overview about the original mystery appeared at the culture website Good on 4 November 2009. The Resurrect Dead site hasn't been updated for some time although it hasn't yet gone the way of the Toynbee.net site, which no longer exists. There's been plenty of new activity going on, with new tiles appearing all over Philadelphia and beyond. Philly photographer and Tile researcher Steve Weinik posted a well-referenced update over on his blog on 31 October, on all Toynbee Tile activity so far in 2009. |

[6:23p] Meta nonsense
The worst part about trying to blog everyday is writing a waste of space entry like this one. The best part is that one is reminded that one’s blog even exists.
I really blame twitter and the instant gratification of saying something short and sweet for my horrendous drop off in blogging over the past 18 months.

[8:42p] Timothy Bateson (1926-2009)
http://gallifreynewsbase.blogspot.com/2009/11/timothy-bateson-1926-2009.html The Guardian newspaper in the UK has published an obituary for actor Timothy Bateson, who died in September at the age of 83. Bateson enjoyed an acting career stretching from the 1940s to the present decade, and in 1955 appeared in the first London production of the play "Waiting for Godot". He appeared in Doctor Who only once, in the 1978 serial The Ribos Operation, where he portrayed Binro the Heretic. In this role he took part in the scene where Binro explains that be believes there are other planets and other stars; this is frequently regarded as one of the most memorable scenes from Doctor Who, most recently acclaimed as such in Doctor Who Magazine's "200 Golden Moments" special edition. The serial, along with the others in the 1978 "Key to Time" series, is due to be re-released on DVD next week, following its previous limited edition issue. [6:07p] Ambassadors DVD Commentary
http://gallifreynewsbase.blogspot.com/2009/11/ambassadors-dvd-commentary.html Speaking at the Missing in Action convention, the actor Nicholas Courtney reported that he has just recorded a commentary for the seventh season story The Ambassadors of Death, alongside other members of cast and crew including Terrance Dicks, Peter Halliday and Derek Ware. It should be remembered that commentaries are often recorded way in advance of DVD release (years in some cases!), so this is no indication that the story is currently scheduled to appear in the shops soon! Restoration Team member Steve Roberts recently discussed the colour recovery process at a talk for the Doctor Who Information Network, during which he reported that recovery work hadn't been undertaken on the story at that point. |

[11:19a] How much you want to bet that The Gov.'s threat had something to do with it?
SEPTA is saying the strike is overNow I wait for the Frontier lines to get back up and running (since I live in the suburbs). And just in time for Christmas! LOL But hey, I'm happy because I felt so sorry for all those poor elderly and disabled people who can't drive and have to use (as George Lopez once called it) "the public option." I mean, the ones in the 'burbs had options (I know where I live in Bucks County, there is a program that can help them) but what about the ones in the city? |
