Hey, maybe you are just like me! Things that connect people:
TV
I respond to clever. That pretty much rules out mostly everything found on television. Programming that makes me sad includes: all reality TV (game shows, elimination shows, judge so-and-so, and all of MTV post 1988), gossip "entertainment" shows, and daytime talk shows. Additional insulting programming comes from the so-called news channels. CNN, Fox News, MSNBC - they don't do the news anymore; they do news SHOWS. This is how they reconcile pumping out dogshit programming spun by annoying "journalists" and still claim to be 24-hour news networks. But it's not all bad out there. A few fine exceptions are Doctor Who, Battlestar Galactica, Lost, Family Guy, The Daily Show, The Colbert Report, The Office, and lots of stuff on The Food Network, PBS, The Discovery Channel, and The History Channel. I really miss Father Ted, The Wire, The West Wing, and Arrested Development. I think I YouTube more than I TV. Those were verbs.
The Internet
I use it. A lot. I used to manage a support team at a small software company (as well as coordinate a ton of other bullshit there, but that's a different story). I was online and in front of a computer for 8 hours straight. I could not wait to get home and unwind in front of my computer. I've had my own domain names and web pages since it was unusual, expensive, and completely unnecessary. So now I do something more hands on and manly: I manage a produce department in a small, upscale supermarket. But somehow I still end up doing the store website. After a hard day there I return to my computer at home to see what I missed. Also, I purchased an iPhone so I could use the internets and check email from right in the aisles.
Books
I like them. I read. But not so much anymore since the purchase of my iPhone. Instead of sitting on public transportation for an hour progressing through a novel, I sit on public transportation for an hour and listen to the same six songs over and over while occasionally nodding off. And also podcasts.
Video Games
I swear I used to be a hardcore gamer. But in my day, hardcore gaming meant Link, Mario, and Samus. Now it means online FPS. As you can imagine, I own a Nintendo Wii. But I'm rarely motivated to touch the damned thing.
Exercise
Haaaah. But I do own a pretty snazzy bike for some reason.
Random
I dig cooking and all things culinary, but rarely apply my wisdom and mastery over food preparation these days. I work too much. Bourbon on the rocks is 50% classy and 900% awesome, just like boobies. I want to play with your dog. I urban explore caves and abandoned places when/where I get the chance. I want to travel, but usually no one wants to come with me. I don't drive so I really need you to come with me.
Work
My skills are legendary. I'm a motherfucking produce warrior, rockin' aisle #1 and making all other departments my BITCH. Also there's the T-shirt company thing. I have fewer minions to direct there.
